Summary
In 1857, the first group of settlers that arrived in this area settled along Chocolate Bayou. Due to the favorable climate and fertile soils, the settlement began farming and growing fruit. They named the settlement Pomona, which comes from the Latin name Pomum, meaning “fruit,” specifically orchard fruit. When the railroads arrived in 1877, the settlement was renamed to Manvel, the President of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. As a tribute to the City of Manvel and its history, the name Pomona was chosen for the new master-planned community.
Pomona by Hillwood Communities elevates life’s everyday moments to take center stage. It’s a place to both escape and connect, to unwind and to energize. The community isn’t a place, it’s a collection of homes to build bonds between neighbors, friends and families. Conveniently located in the Highway 288 corridor, just minutes from the Texas Medical Center, Pomona is close to everything with plenty of breathing room built in. And as a Live Smart community, amenities have been carefully designed to promote genuine connection, inspiration and growth. Pomona is setting the standard for what it means to Live Smart.
